    Why Do Consumers Boycott Personalization Marketing? A Perspective from Multidimensional Development Theory and Psychological Contract Violation

    With the advancement of data mining technologies and the collection and storage of massive consumer data, the increasing enterprises have taken the initiative to develop and provide personalization marketing for consumers. While personalization can benefit consumers, its features still reflect potential threats which may lead to consumer boycotts, such as privacy issues. Based on the multidimensional development theory and psychological contract violation, this study explores the mechanism of consumer boycott to personalization marketing from the comprehensive perspective, examines and distinguishes the different roles of situation (customization, advancement, and privacy control) and personal trait (personal innovativeness) in the formation of boycott. This study will help personalization providers to successfully manage their relationships with consumers, avoid boycotts and achieve marketing goals

    A Four-week Stock Simulation Research by Yuxin Wu and Chengyu Jiang

    This project is a four-week stock simulation research. The goal of the project is for the two team members to learn stock trading strategies through a real-time simulation so that they can make wise and proper decisions on stock investment in the future. This project reviewed the current stock market, analysed two popular trading techniques and ran stock simulations on ten selected companies with an investment of $500,000 for each trading method. The results indicated that the Day Trading method is more profitable than the Swing & News Trading method in short-term investment (one month). This project provided the team members with valuable trading experiences that will be beneficial to future investments

    We used the fluorescence ubiquitination-based cell cycle indicator (FUCCI) to monitor cell cycle arrest after treatment of FUCCI-expressing HeLa cells (FUCCI-HeLa) with a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal mixture LQ, previously shown to have anti-tumor and anti-metastatic activity in mouse models. Paclitaxel was used as the positive control. In 2D monolayer culture, the untreated control had approximately 45% of the cells in S/G₂/M phase. In contrast, the LQ-treated cells (9 mg/ml) were mostly in the G₀/G₁ (>90%) after 72 hours. After treatment with paclitaxel (0.01 μm), for 72 hours, 95% of the cells were in S/G₂/M. In 2.5D Matrigel culture, the colonies in the untreated control group had 40% of the cells in S/G₂/M. LQ arrested the cells in G₀/G₁ after 72 hours. Paclitaxel arrested almost all the cells in S/G₂/M after 72 hours. In 3D Gelfoam culture, the untreated control culture had approximately 45% of cells in G₂/M. In contrast, the LQ-treated cells were mostly in G₀/G₁ phase (>80%) after 72 hours treatment. Paclitaxel resulted in 90% of the cells arrested in S/G₂/M after 72 hours. The present report suggests the non-toxic LQ has potential to maintain cancers in a quiescent state for long periods of time

    Numerical Simulation of Discharge Process in the Single Screw Compressor

    In the process of the single screw air compressor, the symmetrical grooves of the compressor are periodically connected with the discharge ports and the gas enters the discharge chamber or flows back from chamber, generating gas pulsation. The gas pulsation increases the flowing loss to bring additional energy loss, meanwhile the gas pulsation is the one of main reasons for the generation of vibration and noise. The thermodynamic model of the compression chamber and the discharge chamber of a single screw air compressor is established in this paper taking the discharge chamber structure and the flow resistance into consideration. The working process in discharge chamber is simulated base on the thermodynamic model. In addition, the influence of speed and back pressure on the pressure in the discharge chamber is investigated in detail. The analysis results provide a basis for optimum design of structure and reduction of vibration and noise

    The geography of city liveliness and consumption: evidence from location-based big data

    Understanding the complexity in the connection between city liveliness and spatial configurationsfor consumptive amenities has been an important but understudied research field in fast urbanising countries like China. This paper presents the first step towards filling this gap though location-based big data perspectives. City liveliness is measured by aggregated spacetime human activity intensities using mobile phone positioning data.Consumptive amenities are identified by point-of-interest data from Chinese Yelp website (dian ping). The results provide the insights into the geographic contextual uncertainties of consumptive amenities in shaping the rise and fall in the vibrancy of city liveliness

    SmartUnit: Empirical Evaluations for Automated Unit Testing of Embedded Software in Industry

    In this paper, we aim at the automated unit coverage-based testing for embedded software. To achieve the goal, by analyzing the industrial requirements and our previous work on automated unit testing tool CAUT, we rebuild a new tool, SmartUnit, to solve the engineering requirements that take place in our partner companies. SmartUnit is a dynamic symbolic execution implementation, which supports statement, branch, boundary value and MC/DC coverage. SmartUnit has been used to test more than one million lines of code in real projects. For confidentiality motives, we select three in-house real projects for the empirical evaluations. We also carry out our evaluations on two open source database projects, SQLite and PostgreSQL, to test the scalability of our tool since the scale of the embedded software project is mostly not large, 5K-50K lines of code on average. From our experimental results, in general, more than 90% of functions in commercial embedded software achieve 100% statement, branch, MC/DC coverage, more than 80% of functions in SQLite achieve 100% MC/DC coverage, and more than 60% of functions in PostgreSQL achieve 100% MC/DC coverage. Moreover, SmartUnit is able to find the runtime exceptions at the unit testing level. We also have reported exceptions like array index out of bounds and divided-by-zero in SQLite. In recent years the 700 °C level Advanced Ultra-Super-Critical (A-USC) technology with high thermal efficiency is developing in the world to reduce the coal consumption and pollution emissions. Any kind of advanced ferritic and austenitic heat-resisting steels can not meet 700 °C A-USC technology requirement. In this case high quality Ni-base superalloys must be adopted for 700 °C A-USC technology. The research and development of Ni-Fe and Ni-base superalloys such as HR6W, GH2984, Haynes 230, Inconel 617/617B, Nimonic 263, Haynes 282, Inconel 740 and 740H are reviewed in this chapter

    Renyi Entropy Rate of Stationary Ergodic Processes

    In this paper, we examine the Renyi entropy rate of stationary ergodic processes. For a special class of stationary ergodic processes, we prove that the Renyi entropy rate always exists and can be polynomially approximated by its defining sequence; moreover, using the Markov approximation method, we show that the Renyi entropy rate can be exponentially approximated by that of the Markov approximating sequence, as the Markov order goes to infinity. For the general case, by constructing a counterexample, we disprove the conjecture that the Renyi entropy rate of a general stationary ergodic process always converges to its Shannon entropy rate as {\alpha} goes to 1
